ingeos | k146 : cartographie sonore autour du Taurion

A bit of translation for our numerous non-french readers visitors

“Kdi dctb 146″ is a sound art, sound cartography project and study of the soundscape around the Taurion river.

Taurion river takes its source on the plateau de Millevaches, close to Gentioux (France).

I truly began this project on august 2005; the end is programmed around september 2006. This project breaks up into several phases of recording programmed according to 16 geographical areas covering the totality of the river.

This blog offers a visibility on the current work (With the resumption of 10 years of sound and photographic archives - check my work as toy.bizarre on ingeos web site) and offers the possibility too to download some audio extracts of the recording sessions (phonography.

The whole work will be compiled (Autumn 2007?) in a form which remains to be defined (sound Atlas or electroacoustic composition?) according to the matters which will be collected.

Des sons profonds et inquiétants enregistrés dans la couche de glace qui recouvre le Taurion au Pont du Dognon : chocs, résonances, rythmes, craquements… Tout un monde sonore, qui ne se révèle que lorsque l’on pose l’oreille contre la surface de la glace, enregistré ici avec un hydrophone, le 26/12/2005 vers 9h00 du matin.

Le lendemain, à la même heure, au même endroit, la couche de glace est devenue presque totalement silencieuse ; heureux hasard, une fine averse de neige pointe son nez, et de petits points sonores - flocons minuscules - transforment la surface gelée en une sorte de vieux vinyle craquant, crachotant et bruissant.

The following day, same place, same time: the ice is nearly silent; then it started to snow, and the whole sounded like an old vinyl : pops, hiss and clicks

Le Taurion pris dans la glace

Vers 9h00 du matin, alors que le jour tarde à se lever, un petit bateau de pêcheurs brise la glace qui recouvre le Taurion au Pont du Dognon ces jours-ci, et continue son trajet vers la direction de Grand Peu. La glace craque puis émet de petits sifflements.

Around 9 in the morning, a small fishing boat breaks the ice covering the Taurion river.

En attendant mieux (Le mieux est en cours de construction), il est possible de suivre et de télécharger des extraits des sessions d’enregistrement du projet, et donc d’associer localisation et sons, via Google Earth et la couche ‘Freesound Project Geotags’ ; il suffit pour cela de télécharger le fichier de configuration (freesound.kml) - voir la procédure sur le site Freesound.
